BLB Ebook Tours Interview & Giveaway - Book of Lost Souls by Michelle Muto

Michelle Muto

Michelle has always loved storytelling. When she was a child, her favorite stories were of monsters and things that lurked in the dark. Telling stories often frightened her classmates and got her into a lot of trouble with her teachers. They had no sense of humor.

As an adult, Michelle traded her love of writing for the corporate life where she was an IT professional. Today, she's doing what she loves best - writing and storytelling.

Michelle grew up in Chicago, but currently lives in NE Georgia with her husband and their two dogs. She loves scary books, funny movies, sports cars, chocolate, dogs, and changes of season.
Welcome to the Round Table. May I offer you a beverage before we begin?
Thanks! I'll take the Mystic Brew.

I don’t want to know what’s in it, do I? *glances at cauldron in corner* Didn’t think so. Mmmm. But, it’s surprisingly tasty.

Thank you so much for taking time to chat with me today. It's so nice to have you at the Round Table.

BK: Please tell us a bit about yourself....
I grew up in Chicago, but currently live in NE Georgia with my husband and two dogs. I love sports cars, chocolate and changes of season. Fall is my favorite. When I’m not reading or writing, I spend time with the hubby and the dogs. For the day job, I often do freelance tech writing. I’m a diehard gadget geek.
BK: What inspired you to pen this novel?
I’ve always loved stories about witches. I also have an immense love of funny stories and young adult novels.
BK: What draws you to write in this genre?
I’ve always been drawn to all things supernatural. When I was very young, my brother used to babysit me. He made me watch Twilight Zone reruns and monster movies. I loved it. I’ve been hooked ever since.
BK: How do you keep your writing different from all the other novels in this genre?
For The Book of Lost Souls, it’s the humor, the close relationships between friends, and the addition of odd facts or things like Beezlepups, vampires who are allergic to poison oak, and Trekking Trees. Yeah. You’ll just have to read the book.
BK: Which character would you most invite to dinner?
Wow. There’s so many. Roland Deschain from The Dark Tower series, Harry Potter, and grandma Mazur. It’d fun a fun, eclectic bunch. I’d never invite Hannibal Lechter.
BK: Where can readers find you?
When teen witch Ivy MacTavish changes a lizard into her date for a Halloween dance, everything turns to chaos. And when no one is powerful enough to transform him back except Ivy, it sparks the rumor: Like father, like daughter. Ivy has heard it all before - that her father, who left when she was seven – was involved with the darkest of magic.

Making the rumors worse, someone uses an evil spell book to bring back two of history's most nefarious killers. Ivy's got a simple plan to set things right: find the real dark spell caster, steal the book, and reverse the spell. No problem! But she’ll have to deal with something more dangerous than murderous spirits that want her and her friends dead: the school’s resident bad boy and hotter-than-brimstone demon, Nick Marcelli. Nick’s offering Ivy more than his help with recovering the missing book – he’s offering her a way to ditch her scaly reputation as a lizard-lover. Demons are about as hard to handle as black magic, and as Ivy soon discovers, it’s going to take more than a lot of luck and a little charm if she wants to survive long enough to clear her status as a dark witch, get a warm-blooded boyfriend, and have her former date back to eating meal worms before the week’s end.

Fun Facts:

BK: Fantasy or Horror?
When given a choice, take both.
BK: Favorite Drink?
Um, Mystic Brew?
BK: What is a must have to write?
Silence, tea, and my iMac.
BK: If you could possess a supernatural power, what would it be and why?
Magic. Housework would be so much easier.
BK: Favorite Saying?
If you think you can, or think you can’t, you’re right. ~Henry Ford
BK: What is one thing your readers would be most surprised to know about you?
That I’m a descendant of William Howard – Blackbeard’s quartermaster.

Thank you so much for being at the Round Table today. It's been such a pleasure chatting with you and I wish you much success in the future.

Thank you for inviting me. It's been fun.
