GFP Book Tour & Kindle Giveaway - A Ghost of a Chance by Minnette Meador

Minnette Meador

Welcome to the Round Table Minnette.  May I offer you a beverage before we begin?
Tantalizing Tea.

Great choice, enjoy. Thank you so much for taking time to chat with me today.  It's so nice to have you at the Round Table.

BK:  What inspired you to pen this novel?
M: I've always wanted to write a comedy and this was a natural. Keenan is such a sympathetic character, as a writer, you really want to get him in as much trouble as you can, just to see how he digs his way out.

BK: What inspired your book to be a series?
M: It was a natural decision. Since the cambion has been conceived here, it was natural to follow the creature through his life.

"The succubus seduces a man, collects his seed, and transfers it to an incubus who changes it and delivers it to a human female. Seems to me that would just produce your garden-variety human offspring, but apparently not. The child born to the woman is called a cambion.” A shadow of a warm smile touched Reggie's ghostly lips. “Now, these little fellows are really something… ugly as sin when born, no breath or heartbeat, but it runs around like the very dickens for the first seven years or so. Then it becomes increasingly difficult to differentiate one from a human. A cambion eventually becomes devilishly cunning with the face of an angel. Persuasive too. Can talk a saint into dropping his drawers on Sunday and a nun into giving up her habit.” A GHOST OF A CHANCE - Chapter Three - Inbibbing Spirits

BK: How difficult is it to write a series?
M: Series are always difficult, I think. This is my third and it might be a little easier than the last two. You have to think of it as a very long book.

BK Who is your favorite character?  Which one would you most likely invite to dinner?
M: I love Keenan, but I think the most interesting character is his best friend, Reggie. He smooth, he's English, he's sexy, and he's a ghost.

BK: How did you come up with the title for your series?
M: The original working title was Keenan's Dilema, but I didn't think that caught the spirit (excuse the pun) of the the book. So, I came up with a list of alternatives and ran them by my friends at Rose City Romance. A Ghost of a Chance was the winner by a large margin.

Fun Facts:

BK:  Fantasy or Horror?
Fantasy

BK:  Day or Night?
Night

BK:  Favorite Drink?
Coffee

BK:  Favorite Movie?
Ghost Busters
I love Ghost Busters!

BK:  What is a must have to write?
I've never met a genre I didn't like

BK:  If you could possess a supernatural power,  what would it be and why?
Telekinetics - I'd love to be able to fly!

BK:  Favorite Book?
Sherlock Holmes

BK:  Favorite Author?
Ray Bradbury
He seems to be a big time favorite of many :).

BK:  Favorite Song?
Right now, Call My Name by Charlette Church

BK:  Sometimes while reading a book we visualize a certain actor/actress playing the part.  If your book were being made into a movie,  which actor or actresses do you see playing the part(s)?
    Keenan - Ben Stiller
    Isabella - Jessica Alba
    Constance - Wanda Sykes
    Reggie - Jude Law

BK:  What is one thing your readers would be most surprised to know about you?
When I take a break from writing, I like to knit. I also own a sports car, a Mazda Miata, which has become a 7th child.

BK:  What is the craziest thing you've ever done?
Survival training at the top of Mt. Hood for three days with nothing but a knife.

BK:  If someone could describe you in one word,  what would it be?
Peacemaker

I love that! What a great description and kudos to you. I think I could use you a lot lol.

Keenan Swanson is your typical, everyday graphic designer. Well, except for the hundreds of pesky, prank-loving poltergeists that make his life interesting (in a Chinese curse sort of way). He finds his situation precarious yet manageable—until witty, smoking-hot coworker Isabella enters the scene and Keenan decides he wants her all for himself. With a horny succubus who has other ideas, a burly city cop determined to lock Keenan away, and an evil entity who’s hell-bent on using Keenan’s seed to create a living demon, the reluctant psychic realizes he just might not come out of this alive—or with heart intact.

 Excerpt:

Hands slithered over Keenan’s body, but they were detached somehow. It was hard to describe. Starting on his scalp, the hot tickling sensation sent tendrils of pleasure down his gut and directly into his cock. It was painfully erect, aching for a good hard squeeze, but he couldn’t reach down to touch it.

A weight pressed down on his body, holding him to the bed. Keenan could actually feel his body sinking into the mattress. Something heavy, like invisible clay, pressed against his face. He couldn’t move. He wasn’t scared at all…just horny as hell.

The hands massaging his scalp moved down to his face, pressing his eyes closed with what he could only assume must have been thumbs. They moved down his face and found his lips, parted them, and thrust a slender finger into his mouth. There was no taste, but the soft, warm texture electrified his senses. He sucked on it instinctively. It was deeply sexual and made his cock throb in anticipation. To his utter dismay the finger slipped from his mouth and trailed down his chin.

Keenan opened his eyes. Light from an outside streetlamp illuminated the foot of his bed and half his dresser. When she appeared in a wisp at his feet, he had to struggle to lift his head enough to see her.

Naked heaving breasts came into view; the nipples were long, slate hard, and the areolas black against dark skin. Her waist and hips were slim. Stretched fingers pinched the nipples, making them longer, more rigid. The triangle of her pussy was bald, the slit dark and inviting. Hazy clouds covered her face, making it soft and featureless, but billowing tendrils of black hair twisted out from around it, flowing in a wind Keenan couldn’t hear. It moved in a watery dance.

The covers glided slowly down his body. The soft touch of the silk made his cock twinge in agony and he gritted his teeth to hiss his pleasure. Electric shocks ignited the nerves in his neck, shoulders, and arms. When Keenan was completely exposed, he wasn’t cold. His cock sprang into ready position. The hair on his arms and legs snapped with static.

Thank you so much for being at the Round Table today.  It's been such a pleasure chatting with you and I wish you much success in the future.

Thank you so much for inviting me. It's been a blast! M:o)

Hi Minnette! *waves*
Three random but incredible things I learned about you today: you're a Ghost Busters-loving knitter who survived being on top of Mt. Hood for three days with nothing but a knife. Plus you have seen ghosts. Wow, remind me not to mess with you!

What I get from all these interviews is someone who is willing to try almost anything, has determination and a purpose. Whether it is branching it out in different genres or raising 6 (really six?) kids or hustling to get new books out or battling voices in your head. That's some serious dedication and a key to success. I'm taking a page or two from your book of life and applying it to mine.

I'm glad you decided on A GHOST OF A CHANCE as the title: it fits. I like that. I also like how you thought of a series as a very long book, that makes sense to me.

Another awesome interview and I could soooo see those actors as your characters. When reading I think I even pictured them in those roles to lol

Great interview. Ghostsbusters is one of my favorites too. I was recently watching the video for the Ghostbusters song and I had forgotten how many stars were in it.

Best of luck with your book.

Good morning, all!

Hi, Shadow - It was when I was 17 and I wouldn't exactly call if fun. It was cold and miserable.

Thanks, LadyVampire!

Oh, Na, you are so sweet. Honestly, all those things sound a lot more impressive than they were, but I am honored if they inspire you. I have always loved trying new experiences. You're the best! :o)

Thanks, Marybelle! I like it too. A series can also just be a bunch of book around a central theme too, depending on how you write them. :o)

Oh, I hope you do, Lavinia - I'd love to hear what you think... :o)

Ah Minnette, the things we learn in the space of a day. I couldn't do the whole three days thing with only a knife, I'd have to have a metal cup/bowl/pot. It's the water I can make fire without matches, but I can't drink the water without boiling it.

Love the necklace!!!!

a Few of my Favorite Things: The movie Casablanca, The book Gone with the Wind, The song Let Me Out by MBD, Pickup Trucks, Chai Spice Tea, sassafras stick candy, Buffy (TV series, not the movie- alright so that was a given), Horror and Fantasy (even better together), and boxes (decorative, jewelry, tiny, etc.)

No worries, BK... I LOVE your blog! I think we'll have a lot of fun today.

Oh, Kanya! A daughter? How exciting! Have you tried Lord Peter Whimsey? He is in the same vane and written by a woman! EXCELLENT books.

LOL Seachele! Coffee is my friend... Italy and Alaska are on my list too. For some reason I can see him in this role. If you watch him in the new Focker's movies, you'll see what I mean. I don't know what he's done, but he's looking very sexy these days. Go figure! :o)

I'm good, Brigitte! Love your list!

Hi, Shadow! I'd love to be in an opera, but I'm pretty much retired from all that.

Hi, Cori! I've been having a blast with the interviews!

That was a LOOOONG time ago and I had a little help from my friends, Jean. Love your list!

Hi, Tammy - Go on line and look for on-line romance writer's groups. There are a couple (Celtic Hearts Romance comes readily to mind), and some other ones. If you're close to a big city, just look up their groups too. Oh, and try Critters.org (I think) and Gather.com. Their out there! :o)

Thanks, Donna! I'm limited right now (on lunch break) but will definitely do this tonight. Thanks! :o)

Thanks, Christiana! Love your list!

Thanks, Phyllis - I'm so sorry about your eye. I think a Kindle would be perfect since you can set the text very large. Thanks for joining us today!

Oh I really liked the interview today :D I'm like the other Chelsea and am totally a night person :D I also think that's pretty crazy that you were on top of a mountain with just a knife?! How scary/cold/freaky was THAT?! And I ADORE Mazda Miata's omg :D My stepdad used to have one and I got to drive it briefly when I had my PERMIT *makes face* almost killed my stepdad and me a few times but I LOVED the blue sporty car.. My stepdad would crack me up.. it would be cold.. the top was down and he'd have the heater on full blast with a big jacket and gloves LOL! I'm like hmmm.. what's the point? :o but I loved that car.. I was sad when they sold it :P

Ohh..love the necklace. And lists of fav things... is it bad that mine are mostly food, books and tech toys?

I would say food first, there is a chocolate cake that is right there at the top. Then books, far to many to list and finally my tech stuff. Although cursing at the moment since my ipad died and now I don't have a book reader. It is just not the same on the computer. Shopping again to see which one to get.

Great interview again.

Thanks, Sandy - I really hope you get a chance. It might tickle you some!

Hi, Na! I always love your lists, sweetie!

I'm with BK... I used to suck on sassyfrass when I was a kid, but have no idea where to get it. Share, please!

Hi, Cynthia - I'm so glad you could join us! SH is my first mystery love of all times, followed by Nero Wolf books, Lord Peter Whimsey, and Agatha Christy

LOL Julie! I LOVE knitting, but, alas, don't have time for it anymore. Maybe I'll go best seller and be able to write full time... who am I kidding; I'll work 20 hours per day even then!

Hi, Chelsea B! I think you've made it to almost all of the stops, haven't you?

Good question, Nichole - Wish I had an answer. I've read some authors that I think they should have ended a series one book earlier ~chuckle~ but I guess you just write them until your fan say, "Something else, please. Thank you very much." :o)

Hi Minnette,
Interesting choice of things to do here in the Rose City. I like my 3 dogs, 2 cats, 5 great-nieces and now my 2 great-nephews. I like being in North Portland - no matter what the media portrays it to be.

As you've seem to like "ghosts" have you ever gone to any of the places around town that are "haunted" and seen any there? I always think that would be interesting.
Have a good evening and I think that your book should sell loads of copies.

Man! You guys are coming in droves!

If I miss anyone, please give me a holler....

Bama - Books are like second children, aren't they? We fight our husbands to give them space, caress them gently whispering, "Precious... my precious...," and argue with ANYONE who says they would rather watch TV!

Hi, Chelsea R - My Miada was a lifelong dream and I treat Little Blue like a 7th child. She purrs just for me and cuddles me behind the wheel. Of course, I have to work out three times a week to stay small enough to get into her, but what a rush!

You have your eye on that, too, Leanne! Man! Haven't you won enough prizes yet? LOL

Hey, Tina, most of my real ones are ~teehee~ No book reader?! How do you live? Maybe you'll win one during the hop? :o)

Thanks, Dawn - So far people seem to really like it.. the book I mean. Everyone likes the necklace... LOL

Oh, Julian, you are such a tease... such a hot, handsome, hunky tease! Hmmm, can't drive the car huh? Sounds like a story to me... You and Grace are so amazing together... ~sigh~

Hi, Amelia - I'm over in SW off of Barbur! Small world. I went on the underground tour that ended up at Hobo's (I think) and thought we saw one there. DH and I also went on our own tour after going to the library, but no such luck, darn it!

Thanks, Beth - Keep in mind I was 17 and in good shape - plus I had five hunky guys to help me out. But that's another story... :o)

Awesome interview :)
I love saying the word 'awesome'. I love staring at the guy I like (he's so dreamy). I love shopping with my friends. I love dancing around in my room to Korean music. I love pretending to be someone else for just a few seconds.
