This week I received some great books for review.
From The Author:
When you're searching for your purpose, the last thing you expect to discover is that you're the latest reincarnation of a goddess on a three thousand year old mission to defeat the original werewolf, Lycaon, before he can gain revenge on Zeus and Olympus.
Rescued from the claws of werewolves by Julian, a handsome and mysterious immortal, Lauren is pulled into a dark and frightening new world full of monsters out to kill her and an organisation of people with phenomenal abilities who want to protect her—Ghost. But the most frightening thing of all is that soon Lauren will need to drink Julian's blood in order to reawaken and regain her immortal powers.
Or she will die.
Julian isn't about to let that happen. He's never met anyone like Lauren and he's determined not to lose her. She's the perfect copy of Illia but is nothing like her or any of the incarnations. She is light to their darkness, and she breathes life back into him, but can he trust her with his heart and bring himself to believe that the feelings she shows him are real after everything he has been through?
Can Lauren succeed in defeating Lycaon when all of her predecessors have failed? Will she be able to crack the armour around Julian's heart and seize her happily forever after with him?
Having witnessed vampires slaughtering his werewolf pack during their escape from the horror of the compound where they had been held captive, Nicolae’s hatred of the species burns deep in his veins. A century has passed since that night and the months in which he travelled to the Canadian wilderness to escape it, but the nightmarish visions and his failure as an alpha still haunt him, forcing him to live alone and keep his distance from other werewolves.
When a night hunt with the local timber wolf pack leads to a run-in with unfamiliar hunters, Nicolae tracks the scent of blood permeating the forest to an injured woman and races to save her, but has he made a terrible mistake in doing so? When she attacks him, revealing her true nature, he can’t believe his eyes or the fact that he can’t bring himself to kill her. She’s beautiful, and a vampire.
Tatyana is on a mission. Far from home and bearing a heart filled with grief, she’s intent on killing the hunters she’s tracking, but her plan didn’t include being shot with poisoned arrows. When she comes to in the presence of a glowering handsome male werewolf, she isn’t sure what to expect. His dark demeanour and cold tone warn her that he isn’t like the subservient werewolves she’s used to, and that she might not be out of danger yet, but she doesn’t let it discourage her. Working with him to discover why the hunters have come to Canada, she attempts to shatter his antiquated opinion of vampires, but the closer she gets to him, the harder it becomes to battle the forbidden hunger he stirs in her.
Will Nicolae be able to overcome the darkness in his heart and his memories, and embrace his desire for a vampire? Can Tatyana face her fear about the Law Keepers and risk her heart and her life for the sake of forbidden love? When they discover what the hunters are after, will they be able to stop them before it’s too late?
Meet Spyder—a street-wise antihero of inner city society. Experience his strange wisdom, and his twisted sense of humor.
Thirty-year-old Spyder doesn't waste time thinking how much lower he can sink. When he finds his girlfriend dead as the result of drugs he supplied, Spyder contemplates his life and decides it’s time to do what he's avoided most of his days—join mainstream society. All he needs to do is kick the drug habit, find a job, a place to live, and earn some money. Easy. He’s done it hundreds of times, but never all at once. As always, Fate steps in and knees him in the groin. All the dregs he's ever known want their say. George won't stop his pestering, Sal needs a huge favor, Coon is hunting for a certain arachnid, and Spyder's dealer doesn't want to lose one of his best customers. As things spiral out of control, Spyder tangles himself in a web so tight that even he might never be able to escape.
From Authors Promotions Group:
The China-Africa Parallax A Ryan and Gillian Mystery by: Larry Andrews
This book covers Egypt's modern history since 1952 with chronology of Ancient Egyptian history to the present day. It focuses on the Mubarak regime and predicts its downfall and what can unfold in the near future and how it can impact American and Western interests in the Middle East. The book is a good primer and textbook for students of social studies, political science and history at school and college levels. It also explains modern Arab politics and the dynamics of authoritarian rule in the whole region. It is written in a very simple style and narrative which makes it an easy reader, but a valuable academic reference book, as it is very well researched and documented by award-winning and bestselling author of Silent Victims, Professor Aladdin Elaasar.

From the author:
Join Gordon Osmond in his attempt to produce from the disparate elements of his long life some coherent whole and purposeto discover the root causes of the authors ultimate sense of highly partial personal fulfillment.
Long on analysis and short on chronological order, this unauthorized autobiography (sic) takes you to Osmond's diverse domiciles, (the United States, England, Japan, and Brazil), and to his toilings in the various vineyards of law, theatre, tennis, and teaching.
In our lives, we all have episodes of pride and shame, of celebration and despair, and of conquest and defeat. Osmond hopes that this account of these opposite events in his life may in some measure illuminate and inform the reader's own life odyssey.
From Writers Group:
In this second collection of stories, the fabulous Swishy Pete and his cohorts double the funny. Don't worry, dolls -- each episode is better than the last. Revisit Delicious, Minnie, and Char as they delve deeper into their lives and the unique friendship they share. Join them in celebrating Chars’ birthday as wackiness ensues and the comical Aunt Bessie is introduced.Conversations with Swishy Pete Volume II gathers together twelve flash fiction “episodes” featuring Swishy Pete and his friends as they dish on life in the Big Apple. Sometimes deep, often humorous, these short stories bring a fresh perspective that redefines GLBT stereotypes.
So, honey, come listen in as Pete tells it like it is.
In a world of ever-increasing demands, variations and inconsistencies, how does one carve a content, meaningful, functional existence? Liberian-American author Hortense Duarma Grimes utilizes wisdom, humor, spiritual insight and personal accounts to inspire readers to overcome adversity, trample ordeals, and turn trials into triumphs. She Shall Stand delivers a message of hope and encouragement for everyday living. Stories of an African upbringing provide a warm and vivid window into a different time and culture. Hilarious stories tell of the author's adjustment as an immigrant. Ms. Grimes gives a testimony of the power of prayer and faith. She tells of the unending capacity of God's grace and love when one places intimate trust in Jesus Christ. She calls readers to utilize the option of "never quitting" and a reminder that "perseverance will yield good results, every time." She Shall Stand narrates the formation and purpose of the author's ministry, an outreach for spiritual motivation and self-rehabilitation, which has a motto of "helping hurting people help themselves." Ms. Grimes shares the blueprint of that Outreach with a vision to construct Christian spiritual retreat centers in the four corners of Africa. In a masterful introduction of this page-turner, Grimes recaptures human existence and asserts: "Every day mankind waits. We wait for the dawn to break; we wait for dusk to fall. We wait to rise up and begin daily activities; we wait to settle down at the end of each day. In villages, towns, and cities we wait; we awake and wait for something to set our paths in motion. ... People are continuously waiting, life becomes a long journey of wait-watch and wait-wait and see." The author offers a poignant message: "Therefore, life's variations and inconsistencies should not prevent our living abundantly and making good use of the time we have been allotted on this earth. An accounting will be required of each of us, and it must be explained what we've made of God's gift-the gift of life."

THE NUMBER ONE SELLING FULL LENGTH THRILLER OF 2010 ON UKiBS!!
When Jack Bernstein's prodigal daughter Lara is killed as a result of the bombing of flight 320, the one time chess grandmaster is completely unaware that the flight was downed for one reason… to stop his daughter coming home.
Having been summoned via a strangely coded message to a meeting with a man referring to himself only as 'Simon', Jack is made aware that his daughter was leaving a lot more than her new life behind. She was also leaving a secret… one that has been building for centuries and one which a global group of corporations will stop at nothing to protect. It soon becomes apparent that Lara Bernstein's new life was no accident. Lara was selected to become part of an ever-expanding belief and her selection was a direct result of her father's company's near-perfection of the one thing they need - true artificial intelligence, computer systems capable of cracking the most complex codal system known to man.
Slowly, Jack Bernstein is being drawn into a global game of chess in which he has been an unwitting pawn for over a decade. To keep him in the game they have already killed his wife and now his daughter. When the game is over, they will kill a whole lot more unless Jack can find the one thing he never dreamed existed…

Mailbox Mondays
I'm so excited this week. I got one of the books I have just recently added to my TBR after reading an interview with the author. It made my day :).
From the Author:
Times are tough for the demon, Temptation. Once he enjoyed his work enticing humans to sin so their souls could be marked for collection. Now no one needs inducement from him. Lying, stealing, and cheating, has become the mortal's way.
This tiny gold-mining town in northern California and the bar he has just entered appear as corrupt as all the other places he has visited. However, he senses purity amongst the squalor, and he knows he has found the one soul he must tempt. Sunset. She is as decent as he is corrupt. As good as he is evil. And more hopeful about life than any human he has encountered. He must have her.
But he soon learns he has overstepped his bounds and must now find a way to free the souls of the wrongfully damned.
His long-time enemy, the Collector, has other plans. Here to chastise him, he takes great pleasure in announcing Temptation's punishment. He must pursue his quest, in human form, with human emotions. Emotions that lead him straight to Sunset.
From Authors Promotion Group:
Web of Lies takes you on an emotional roller-coaster, experienced through the eyes of Sarah Tate, an intelligent, young newcomer to Switzerland who is swept off her feet by an older, more experienced company manager. Within weeks of their meeting, Bill impresses her with a courtship vastly unusual in modern times. He lures Sarah with his intellect along with numerous gifts, expensive restaurants, and trips to luxury hotels. Sarah, who is searching for not only love but security, quickly finds herself falling for the worldly but sensitive and caring man Bill represents himself to be. In Web of Lies, she describes the highs and the lows of what it is like to be involved with a person with Narcissistic Personality Disorder, how to come to terms with the abuse, and most importantly, how to escape.
No nonsense consumer psychologist, Sienna Lambert moderates focus groups to assist her clients with marketing their products to target audiences. Her newest client, Dexter Clothiers has developed state of the art men's undergarments, Best Kept Secrets that become more comfortable the longer they're worn. Sienna interviews men from all professions and all walks of life to get their opinion on the new line.
When adrenaline junkie, Vaughn Deveraux meets Sienna he takes her breath away--literally. After a run-in at a client softball outing Sienna assumes Vaughn is one of the new models for Dexter Clothiers. Vaughn tells her he's the Creative Director at the company advertising the line and jokes that he leaves the modeling in the very capable hands of his younger brother, Pierce, a retired professional football player who's had a great deal of experience with women asking questions about his briefs.
Though intrigued, Sienna keeps her distance when she finds out he works with her client, but Vaughn's fun nature and zest for living prove too irresistible to ignore. Sienna's once calm, predictable life gets turned upside down when Vaughn shows her that sometime's life is better when you experience it instead of researching it.
Learn how to derail the fateful outcome that the current political leadership is guiding our nation toward.
