Book Blitz: Interview & Giveaway with Sofia Grey - Obsession

Welcome to IAB. I'm so glad you could stop in today to chat. May I offer you a beverage?

Magic Margarita please. You had me at ‘margarita’

Now that we are settled in, let's get to know you better.

BK: Looking out the nearest window, describe the scene you see.

I’m sitting on a busy commuter train and right now I can see hills and green fields whooshing past.

BK: Tell us about your office. Is it a mess like mine, or is everything in its place?

Sadly, I don’t have the luxury of an office for writing in. Most of my writing and editing is done on the train – I travel an hour each way to work and back, and I make the most of those 2 hours every day! Lack of space means my netbook is perched on my knee, a flask of coffee close at hand.

In my day job my desk is ludicrously messy, but strangely, I know where everything is

BK: What is a must-have, such as coffee or a favorite pen, that you need to write?

Netbook, coffee. I sometimes write longhand too, and I prefer a coloured pen, either pink or purple and a hardback book.

BK: Do you like to write in silence, or do you need music or background noise?

Background music, without a doubt. Usually my iPod on the train (I have different playlists for each book I’m working on) and partly that’s to block out the external noises and chatter. Right now I’m listening to Slash (Bad Rain).

BK: Tell us a bit about your hero/heroine, and their development.

Suki Bridgewater is the female lead. On the outside she’s confident and polished, but under the surface, she’s fractured. Imagine a delicate piece of china with cracks running all down the side. All it‘ll take is one blow and she’ll shatter. By the same token, if she’s glued back together she’ll be stronger than ever. She’s the hottest new daytime TV presenter and a major celebrity, used to living in the public eye alongside her equally famous racing driver husband, Gabe. They’ve been married for nearly ten years and she’s struggling to maintain the illusion of the happy wife.

Josh Delaney is a charmer. Smooth and handsome, he gets paid to try and seduce women, to see if they can be tempted away from their husbands. He doesn’t believe any woman is capable of being faithful and his career has made him increasingly jaded. When Gabe hires him to seduce Suki, Josh’s world is turned upside down. He falls in love with her.

When he learns that Gabe might be dangerous, Josh’s protective instincts take over, but Suki is adamant she loves her husband. And besides, how will she react when she learns that he’s been lying to her all along?

BK: As a writer myself, I'm always curious how other writers get through stumble blocks. When you find a story not flowing, or a character trying to fight you, how do you correct it?

For me, going for a drive or a long walk usually untangles things in my head and helps complicated plots to become workable. If the characters are really fighting me though (isn’t it frustrating when they do that!), it’s probably because I’m trying to force them to do something they’re not happy about. Backtracking and rewriting the last scene helps, and then letting them go the way they want to.

BK: Using the letters of your first name as an acronym, describe your book...

Surface appearances
Obsessive behaviours
Family secrets
Internet searches
Another lie

BK: How did your writing journey begin?

Like so many writers, I scribbled from an early age but with little direction or focus. I made the decision a few years ago to make it happen, and started treating it like a career instead of a fun hobby. I joined a Romance Writers Group, found some friendly critique partners and began to develop my style along with my stories. At the end of the year I was signed up by Time and Tide for Obsession, and shortly after I sold a shifter story to Liquid Silver Books. It’s been a busy year so far

BK: Using the letters from the word, Summer, how would friends and family describe you?

Silly jokes – What do you call a man with a seagull on his head? Cliff
U
pper hand - I like to have the last wordMarmite lover – on lightly browned toast with lashings of butter – and cut into little trianglesMargaritas – my favourite cocktail

BK: What is the craziest thing you've ever written about, whether it got published or not?

A Vampire BDSM scene in a writing comp for my Goodreads group. Sadly, I can’t find my copy anymore, but it was hot

BK: Tell us one thing you've done in life, that readers would be most surprised to know.

I once fainted in the toilet of a 747 while on a transatlantic flight. My colleague sitting nearby heard the thump as my head banged against the door and came to rescue me Actually, that would make a great opening for a novel… hmmmm…

BK: What can we expect from you in the future?

The next in the Talisman series (CRAVING) is undergoing revisions and I hope to get that out by the end of the year. I have the series planned out and am super excited about the story arc and the way the Grey Mansion links all the characters together. I’m also working on the next in my Snowdonia Wolves shifter series and am busy revising a couple of time travel novellas that I drafted some time ago.

This or That...

Coke or Pepsi? Cherry Coke

Night Owl or Early Bird? Night owl. When in a writing frenzy I can exist on 3 – 4 hours sleep.

Fantasy or Mystery? Mystery. I love ghosts, vampires and shifters, but fairies and elves make me shudder

Pen/Paper or Computer? Can I have both? Computer for when the words are flowing, but pen / paper is sometimes the best way to get going

Pizza or Burger? Pizza! My current favourite takeaway features smoked chicken, chorizo, fresh basil and pine nuts. Yumm!

Rock or Country? Rock, rock and more rock. Best gigs – Foo Fighters, AC/DC, Shihad

Chocolate or Vanilla? Chocolate. Reeses Peanut Butter cups are impossible to resist

Beach or Mountains? Beach. Our last house move put us one street away from a deserted beach and I love it

Thank you so much for having us as one of your stops today. It has been great getting to know more about you and your book, and hope you will come back when the next release is out (*hinthint*)

Wishing you much success!

Thank you, it’s been a blast coming here to meet you, and these are hands down the most challenging questions ever!

Book Description:
Josh Delaney is the ideal honey trap. His charm and model good looks would be enough for most women, but coupled with his psychic ability to read their thoughts, he’s impossible to resist. Suspicious husbands employ him to test their wives, to see if they can be tempted to stray.
High profile couple Suki and Gabe Bridgewater have the perfect marriage, or at least, that’s the image they portray to the world. Behind closed doors, Gabe’s dominance in the marriage is unravelling and he decides to test Suki, using Josh as bait.
For Josh it should be just another easy job, but two things go horribly wrong.
One, Josh falls in love with Suki.
And two, Gabe refuses to let her go.

Short Excerpt:
His smile disappeared, his fingers stilled on my shoulder. “I don’t think you’re getting confused. And I really don’t think you need to be taking those pills.”
I considered it. They left me feeling fuzzy and tired, remote from everything. “What about the panic attacks? They’re supposed to help with those.”
Uh-huh, but Suki,”--his fingers curled around my shoulder again--“I can help you with those.” I met his gaze, felt myself falling into his beautiful eyes again. What was it about this man? I felt so safe with him, and we’d only just met. I took a quick breath, tried to swallow down another yawn and failed. He laughed softly. “While you’re here, why don’t you stay off the pills, and I promise, if you feel even slightly panicky, I’ll look after you. What do you say?”
Who are you, Josh? How do you do this?”
I’m just a guy. Nobody special.” His eyes darkened, holding my gaze. Knuckles brushed against my cheek and slipped down to caress my jawline. The tenderness, the gentle affection, took my breath away. Common sense yelled at me to move. Something deeper, more instinctive told me to stay. I could hear his breath, unsteady, his heartbeat speeding up. He’s nervous, I realized. The corners of his lips tugged into a hint of a smile, but his eyes were serious, watchful. The air felt charged between us. I imagined if I swirled my hand, I’d conjure a bolt of electricity.
I licked my suddenly dry lips, wondered what he’d be like to kiss.
I remembered my husband.
I heard a footstep in the doorway just before Anita murmured about a pillow and dumped a pile of bedding on the armchair. We broke apart, Josh sweeping his hands through his unruly hair while I made a point of stretching. As I left the room in Anita’s wake, I couldn’t help looking back… and saw Josh watching me, his eyes deep and his expression fathomless.

About the Author:
Romance author Sofia Grey spends her days managing projects in the corporate world and her nights hanging out with wolf shifters and alpha males. She devours pretty much anything in the fiction line, but she prefers her romances to be hot, and her heroes to have hidden depths. When writing, she enjoys peeling back the layers to expose her characters’ flaws and always makes them work hard for their happy endings.

Your book sounds very interesting and I wish you well with your release, and oh yes, although I love stories regarding Faes, there is something unnerving about them!:O)
