Welcome to IAB. I'm so glad you could stop in today to chat. May I offer you a beverage?

Vampire Wine please, there’s nothing like a deep red.

Excellent choice. Now that we are settled in, let's get to know you better.

BK: Looking out the nearest window, describe the scene you see.
No windows in the room I’m in now.

BK: Tell us about your office. Is it a mess like mine, or is everything in its place?
An organized mess (I know more or less where everything is)

BK: What is a must-have, such as coffee or a favorite pen, that you need to write?
Coffee is a MUST, Out of the house to do most of my writing.

BK: Do you like to write in silence, or do you need music or background noise?
Headphones on, usually with Rush or AC/DC playing

BK: Tell us a bit about your hero/heroine, and their development.
While the central character is a boy/young man, the women are really the stronger heroes.

BK: As a writer myself, I'm always curious how other writers get through stumble blocks. When you find a story not flowing, or a character trying to fight you, how do you correct it?
Base your characters on real people. Even if their history and life are different, it makes the characters more alive and makes their dialogue flow easier.

BK: Using the letters of your first name as an acronym, describe your book...
Hokus-Pokus
And
Love

BK: How did your writing journey begin?
I was always into writing stories in high school, but my professional wirting career began by accident.
Back in the early days before Facebook and before Blogs, I created a web site for Horror themes called, Frightscape.com. It’s still in existence in its very primitive form.

Anyway, I decided to write an article for my own site about one of the scariest places I had ever been. It was a haunted attraction that had existed in the 1970’s and 80’s. It was called, Brigantine Castle. It was gigantic. It was five stories tall with over 80 live actors. Through the early search facilities of the web, I found a few of the original cast and got them together using a yahoo group (They still use it).

It gave me a unique opportunity to interview them and to write some great stuff about the place, with a lot of their pictures and even some sound recordings.

The editor of Haunted Attractions magazine read my web site and asked me to write one for him. It was my first professional writing. I’ve written a few more articles for Haunted Attractions Magazine since then, along with a few other industry publications.

BK: What is the craziest thing you've ever written about, whether it got published or not?

Top ways to blow up an entire planet (published by the SyFy Channel)

BK: Tell us one thing you've done in life, that readers would be most surprised to know.
I’ve performed a wedding

BK: What can we expect from you in the future?
A sequel –hopefully before the end of this summer!

This or That...

Coke or Pepsi?
Coke

Night Owl or Early Bird?
A Night Owl that is forced to be an Early Bird for the day job

Fantasy or Mystery?
Fantasy

Pen/Paper or Computer?
Depends what I am writing

Pizza or Burger?
Pizza

Rock or Country?
Rock…Classic Rock…”and a little bit country…”

Chocolate or Vanilla?
Chocolate

Beach or Mountains?
Beach!!! Definitely BEACH!!!

Thank you so much for having us as one of your stops today. It has been great getting to know more about you and your book, and hope you will come back when the next release is out (*hinthint*)

Wishing you much success!

About the Author:

I currently live in New Jersey, in a small town just north of Princeton. I grew up in Philadelphia. I guess I’ve been writing stories since I was about 11 or 12. I loved the idea of being able to transport someone to another place, or to create my own.

I’ve always been into technology. I’ve worked in the field for almost 25 years. I wrote for the Syfy Channel’s technology site, DVICE and several of my articles were picked up by NBC (NBC Universal owns the Syfy Channel). I have regular articles that are science fiction inspired, but about REAL technology. It’s been my passion to incorporate something real from fiction. In the case of my book, it’s incorporating something real INTO the fiction.

Before any of the Syfy channel stuff, way back in the early days before Facebook and before Blogs, I created a web site for Horror themes called, Frightscape.com.

Book Description:

This is a fiction story, with factually reported paranormal events, written by an established, credible, science and technology writer for well-known publications.

I think you'll find the story has in interesting world to immerse yourself in without losing an edge in reality that sets it apart. While the book has paranormal elements, it is not a typical, "drippy" vampire romance. Hath no Fury is about REAL magic. While the storyline is a fictional, any paranormal elements are actually based on real events personally observed in research or relayed by very credible witnesses.

Set in the 1970’s, Mark and Amy, the central characters of the story, live a life of discovery and wonder amidst a secret world of magic practitioners. As they mature, they discover their own magic and a new facet to their friendship. Just as they turn over a new page in their relationship, their worlds are suddenly rocketed out of control by a destiny and a source of evil that has been waiting patiently for a generation.

Excerpt:

Prologue – The Demon

The demon controlled the man’s actions. It caused him to perform acts that, even in the deepest places of his id and lust, he would never have even considered. Not that he was a good man by any stretch of the imagination. His personality was cold and evil in ways that would give a hardened criminal a case of the chills.

The demon, however, acted on its own desires, free from any human morality. Acts of sex and acts of murder were only tools to satisfy its lust and to gain power. The act the demon now presented to the man was especially satisfying to the demon. He had given the man the guise of one whose presence would please the woman. He knew the human man would have sex with just about anyone once he became aroused.

The night was the festival of all Hallows eve. This night is when the veil between the worlds of humans and the world beyond were the thinnest. The man made his way to the woman’s bedroom. The demon had piqued his desire. His passion was powerful and borderline violent.

Her desire rose to meet his.

The improbability of the guise the demon projected about the man was disregarded by the woman. This was the appearance of her former lover. He was her deepest and most desperate wish. Her longing removed all common sense typically found in most women. Desperation removed her doubts of the near impossible nature of the encounter with a man who was not hers anymore.

The nature of the demon’s sexual technique was more powerful than anything she had
experienced. She convinced herself that it was just a product of his renewed rising desire for her.

The demon worked its control over the man giving him almost superhuman ability as it fulfilled their mutual needs again and again past the point when the woman would have thought was humanly possible.

After hours, they lie, spent and exhausted. The demon’s influence now left the man along with his projected disguise. Sensing this, the human man rose quietly in shame and disgust. He hoped she would be asleep or too tired to realize that the demon’s disguise had left him. In truth, the woman had noticed his true identity. At least she thought she had. The idea was so difficult to bear that her brain decided that it would rather believe the disguise than accept the truth it was now presented with. It was a more "comfortable” truth that her former love impossibly appeared.

Its earthly purpose and lustful needs fulfilled, the demon no longer needed the man. Now the demon would soon have what it most desired, a child created by its own lust and the love of a willing partner. When the child was old enough, it would become powerful, and an ideal host.

The human man knew that the child he had created, at the behest of the demon, would be
destined for greatness and power. He knew that he would be there to guide the child toward greatness and share in its power.

ASIN: B007X7CY5W

Number of pages: 155
Word Count: 29K Words
Cover Artist: Derek Murphy

Book Description:

Tessa Von Hellengaard is a real witch. Magical spells aside, she’s snarky and selfish, and the other witches in her silent spell coven are fed up with her. Their plan to reform Tessa involves taking away her magic, saddling her with one hundred extra pounds, and sending her to a weight loss spa.

For good measure they call in Liam Kennedy, a charming and sexy fairy godfather, to teach her some manners. Desperate to regain her magic and determined to shed the weight, Tessa soon realizes that protecting her heart from Liam will prove to be her greatest challenge.

My Thoughts:

Perfect title...Check! Perfect Characters...Check! Perfect plot...Check!!

I LOVED IT!

Tessa has attitude and is a bit spoiled, you have to love her. Liam is strong, charming, and I'd love him for a fairy Godfather...

Anyday!

When Tessa has to learn life lessons before she can gain her seat at the United Paranormal Council, she is really taken to the edge of her limits, and patience. Especially when she is thrown into a retreat to lose a hundred extra pounds that she never had before. Will she be able to shed the weight or be stuck with the extra baggage for the rest of her life....without her magic or the council seat?

Mickelson did a beautiful job drawing the reader in, keeping you engaged and turning the pages to the end. This book was right up my alley, starting off with a great action scene and keeping up a pace to be able to read in one sitting.

It was a short read but not missing detail that had you wondering or wanting more information, and it ended with great finesse for such a short read. I would highly recommend this read to any paranormal lover, you're going to love it.

I give Witch Weigh...

Excerpt:

“Hey, lady, anyone ever tell you you’re a real witch?”
“More times than you can imagine.” Contessa Von Hellengaard, Tessa to her few friends and many enemies alike, eyed the obstinate construction worker who blocked the path of her sleek black Mercedes.
She wondered how this mere mortal would like being turned into a fluffy skunk. Her fingers itched to work their magic, but she kept them gripped on the steering wheel. She was already in enough trouble with the Upper Hallows Witch Council without casting what they would consider another unnecessary spell. If she was detained any longer she’d be late for her meeting with said council. Tessa knew they were already ticked off enough without her adding another infraction to their precious list.
She leaned out the window. “Remove your overfed self from my way immediately. I need to use this road and I don’t have time for your ridiculous detour.”
“Guess you should’ve used your broomstick then because there ain’t no way I’m letting your car get through here.” He crossed his beefy arms over his chest.
He seemed altogether too amused with his juvenile humor for Tessa’s liking. Broomstick indeed. She revved the motor to let him know she meant business.
He couldn’t say he hadn’t been warned.
She pushed up her black lace sleeves and pointed to the orange and white barricade. “Last warning. Remove yourself and that thing from my way.”
He laughed at her. Laughed. At her.
She narrowed her eyes. This sorry excuse for a government employee was not going to make her late for her meeting. Removing him from her path, she decided, was a very necessary act indeed. She could make the council members understand. But only if she got there on time.
With the tip of her red lacquered fingernail she traced a circle in her palm, silently reciting the spell that would get her what she wanted. A small, satisfied smile tugged at her lips as the man in front of her began to levitate. She stroked her index finger sideways to help direct his ascension. His shocked expression and angry torrent of curse words bothered her not at all. He continued to fuss and kick even after he was hooked on to the high crane by the back of his overalls. At over forty feet above the ground she could barely make out his foul words.
Tessa flicked her finger across her palm with one last quick swipe and waited while the barricade went flying to the side of the road and crashed on a pile of rocks.
She waved farewell to the construction worker as she slipped her Mercedes into drive. The fool would be wise to quit struggling or he’d soon have a painful wedgie.
Silly mortal. He had no reason to panic. Someone would be along to get him down. Eventually.

Book Blitz: Interview & Giveaway with Sofia Grey - Obsession

Welcome to IAB. I'm so glad you could stop in today to chat. May I offer you a beverage?

Magic Margarita please. You had me at ‘margarita’

Now that we are settled in, let's get to know you better.

BK: Looking out the nearest window, describe the scene you see.

I’m sitting on a busy commuter train and right now I can see hills and green fields whooshing past.

BK: Tell us about your office. Is it a mess like mine, or is everything in its place?

Sadly, I don’t have the luxury of an office for writing in. Most of my writing and editing is done on the train – I travel an hour each way to work and back, and I make the most of those 2 hours every day! Lack of space means my netbook is perched on my knee, a flask of coffee close at hand.

In my day job my desk is ludicrously messy, but strangely, I know where everything is

BK: What is a must-have, such as coffee or a favorite pen, that you need to write?

Netbook, coffee. I sometimes write longhand too, and I prefer a coloured pen, either pink or purple and a hardback book.

BK: Do you like to write in silence, or do you need music or background noise?

Background music, without a doubt. Usually my iPod on the train (I have different playlists for each book I’m working on) and partly that’s to block out the external noises and chatter. Right now I’m listening to Slash (Bad Rain).

BK: Tell us a bit about your hero/heroine, and their development.

Suki Bridgewater is the female lead. On the outside she’s confident and polished, but under the surface, she’s fractured. Imagine a delicate piece of china with cracks running all down the side. All it‘ll take is one blow and she’ll shatter. By the same token, if she’s glued back together she’ll be stronger than ever. She’s the hottest new daytime TV presenter and a major celebrity, used to living in the public eye alongside her equally famous racing driver husband, Gabe. They’ve been married for nearly ten years and she’s struggling to maintain the illusion of the happy wife.

Josh Delaney is a charmer. Smooth and handsome, he gets paid to try and seduce women, to see if they can be tempted away from their husbands. He doesn’t believe any woman is capable of being faithful and his career has made him increasingly jaded. When Gabe hires him to seduce Suki, Josh’s world is turned upside down. He falls in love with her.

When he learns that Gabe might be dangerous, Josh’s protective instincts take over, but Suki is adamant she loves her husband. And besides, how will she react when she learns that he’s been lying to her all along?

BK: As a writer myself, I'm always curious how other writers get through stumble blocks. When you find a story not flowing, or a character trying to fight you, how do you correct it?

For me, going for a drive or a long walk usually untangles things in my head and helps complicated plots to become workable. If the characters are really fighting me though (isn’t it frustrating when they do that!), it’s probably because I’m trying to force them to do something they’re not happy about. Backtracking and rewriting the last scene helps, and then letting them go the way they want to.

BK: Using the letters of your first name as an acronym, describe your book...

Surface appearances
Obsessive behaviours
Family secrets
Internet searches
Another lie

BK: How did your writing journey begin?

Like so many writers, I scribbled from an early age but with little direction or focus. I made the decision a few years ago to make it happen, and started treating it like a career instead of a fun hobby. I joined a Romance Writers Group, found some friendly critique partners and began to develop my style along with my stories. At the end of the year I was signed up by Time and Tide for Obsession, and shortly after I sold a shifter story to Liquid Silver Books. It’s been a busy year so far

BK: Using the letters from the word, Summer, how would friends and family describe you?

Silly jokes – What do you call a man with a seagull on his head? Cliff
U
pper hand - I like to have the last wordMarmite lover – on lightly browned toast with lashings of butter – and cut into little trianglesMargaritas – my favourite cocktail
E
xcitable
R
omantic

BK: What is the craziest thing you've ever written about, whether it got published or not?

A Vampire BDSM scene in a writing comp for my Goodreads group. Sadly, I can’t find my copy anymore, but it was hot

BK: Tell us one thing you've done in life, that readers would be most surprised to know.

I once fainted in the toilet of a 747 while on a transatlantic flight. My colleague sitting nearby heard the thump as my head banged against the door and came to rescue me Actually, that would make a great opening for a novel… hmmmm…

BK: What can we expect from you in the future?

The next in the Talisman series (CRAVING) is undergoing revisions and I hope to get that out by the end of the year. I have the series planned out and am super excited about the story arc and the way the Grey Mansion links all the characters together. I’m also working on the next in my Snowdonia Wolves shifter series and am busy revising a couple of time travel novellas that I drafted some time ago.

This or That...

Coke or Pepsi? Cherry Coke

Night Owl or Early Bird? Night owl. When in a writing frenzy I can exist on 3 – 4 hours sleep.

Fantasy or Mystery? Mystery. I love ghosts, vampires and shifters, but fairies and elves make me shudder

Pen/Paper or Computer? Can I have both? Computer for when the words are flowing, but pen / paper is sometimes the best way to get going

Pizza or Burger? Pizza! My current favourite takeaway features smoked chicken, chorizo, fresh basil and pine nuts. Yumm!

Rock or Country? Rock, rock and more rock. Best gigs – Foo Fighters, AC/DC, Shihad

Chocolate or Vanilla? Chocolate. Reeses Peanut Butter cups are impossible to resist

Beach or Mountains? Beach. Our last house move put us one street away from a deserted beach and I love it

Thank you so much for having us as one of your stops today. It has been great getting to know more about you and your book, and hope you will come back when the next release is out (*hinthint*)

Wishing you much success!

Thank you, it’s been a blast coming here to meet you, and these are hands down the most challenging questions ever!

Book Description:
Josh Delaney is the ideal honey trap. His charm and model good looks would be enough for most women, but coupled with his psychic ability to read their thoughts, he’s impossible to resist. Suspicious husbands employ him to test their wives, to see if they can be tempted to stray.
High profile couple Suki and Gabe Bridgewater have the perfect marriage, or at least, that’s the image they portray to the world. Behind closed doors, Gabe’s dominance in the marriage is unravelling and he decides to test Suki, using Josh as bait.
For Josh it should be just another easy job, but two things go horribly wrong.
One, Josh falls in love with Suki.
And two, Gabe refuses to let her go.

Short Excerpt:
His smile disappeared, his fingers stilled on my shoulder. “I don’t think you’re getting confused. And I really don’t think you need to be taking those pills.”
I considered it. They left me feeling fuzzy and tired, remote from everything. “What about the panic attacks? They’re supposed to help with those.”
Uh-huh, but Suki,”--his fingers curled around my shoulder again--“I can help you with those.” I met his gaze, felt myself falling into his beautiful eyes again. What was it about this man? I felt so safe with him, and we’d only just met. I took a quick breath, tried to swallow down another yawn and failed. He laughed softly. “While you’re here, why don’t you stay off the pills, and I promise, if you feel even slightly panicky, I’ll look after you. What do you say?”
Who are you, Josh? How do you do this?”
I’m just a guy. Nobody special.” His eyes darkened, holding my gaze. Knuckles brushed against my cheek and slipped down to caress my jawline. The tenderness, the gentle affection, took my breath away. Common sense yelled at me to move. Something deeper, more instinctive told me to stay. I could hear his breath, unsteady, his heartbeat speeding up. He’s nervous, I realized. The corners of his lips tugged into a hint of a smile, but his eyes were serious, watchful. The air felt charged between us. I imagined if I swirled my hand, I’d conjure a bolt of electricity.
I licked my suddenly dry lips, wondered what he’d be like to kiss.
I remembered my husband.
I heard a footstep in the doorway just before Anita murmured about a pillow and dumped a pile of bedding on the armchair. We broke apart, Josh sweeping his hands through his unruly hair while I made a point of stretching. As I left the room in Anita’s wake, I couldn’t help looking back… and saw Josh watching me, his eyes deep and his expression fathomless.

Promotional Book Tour: Faelon by AJ Kelton

Faelon
by AJ Kelton

About The Author:

AJ Kelton are the dynamic writing team of Angel and Jordan. The couple met online several years ago on an Alexander fan site and have been friends ever since. Angel soon found that Jordan had a flare for storytelling with several half-finished stories on her computer. Angel encouraged Jordan to finish the stories and with help in creative description she decided to send the stories off to MLR press. They were both shocked and excited when they got the news that Faelon was accepted for publication. While Jordan may have a flare for storytelling she doesn’t enjoy the smaller details in getting a story ready for publication. That is where Angel comes in; she spends countless hours getting the story ready after line edits, going over each line in proofing and formatting, making decisions such as covers and fonts, all things that Jordan just has problems focusing on.

Angel is always on the lookout for her perfect mate, a cross between Ethan from Under the Australian Sky and Evan from Marco. Until Mr. Perfect appears at her door, or in front of her booth wanting an autograph she loves to read, take pictures and attend concerts of all kinds. She loves all things 80’s. Angel lives in Texas with her two dogs, Daisy a beagle who she insists is nothing like snoopy and her Chihuahua Bonita.

When not writing Jordan loves to read anything from Amish romance to the dark taboo books of fiction both M/M and Het. She is a very avid reader, except when writing because she doesn’t want to be influenced by what she is reading. Jordan loves to travel and often her latest vacation spots show up in his books. While Jordan is always looking for that perfect place to live at the moment she can be found in Kansas.

Both writers have solo projects coming out in the future, Angel with Misunderstandings under the name Angel Rothamel. Jordan with Legion under the name Rider Jacobs.

Both authors would love to hear from you. You can contact them via their web page AJKelton@AJKelton.com. You can also find them on Facebook under both AJ Kelton, Angel Rothamel and Rider Jacobs.

Genre: M/M Romance
Publisher: MLR Press
Release Date: April 5, 2013

Book Description:

Who knew that loving a Nephilim could be so dangerous. Faelon, a 3000-year-old nephilim, fleeing a demonic master, found safety with the church. He has repaid their kindness by translating various artifacts. Father Donovan has watched as Faelon became a recluse, fearing those who would harm him. Jax, wanting a change, moves to Salem, MA where he finds work as a churches security guard. Not believing that Faelon is a nephilim, he is forced to confront his own beliefs in the supernatural. Can he learn to accept Faelon, and be the master he requires? Or lose the man he loves to the demons who would harm him.

Excerpts:

*NOTE* Some Graphic Language

“I have been called many names in my life, but I don’t think ‘crazy-ass’ was one of them.” The man smiled at him.
You still haven’t answered my question.” Jax pulled out his cell phone. “You have exactly thirty seconds to tell me who you are and why you are here, or you’ll be explaining it to the police.”
The other man pushed off from the door and sauntered toward Jax. “There is no need to get the police involved. My name is Faelon, and I live in the basement where I happen to be cataloguing all those important items and translating those dusty old books into English. It isn’t the most exciting job in the world, but, hell, it keeps me a bit busy, and at this moment I find I’m enjoying it.”
You live in the basement?” Father Donavan mentioned that Faelon worked late at night, but he didn’t mention that the man actually lived down there. “Father Donavan didn’t mention that you lived in the basement.”
Faelon shoved his hands in the pockets of his leather jacket as he started toward the side door. “Yes, I have a small studio apartment down there. It’s why no one is allowed to enter the area without my express invitation. Ask Father Donavan tomorrow if you don’t believe me. I’m going out, grabbing a bite to eat, and maybe I’ll watch the water for a while. Tell me, is it warm out? Are the tourists here yet?”
Jax shrugged his shoulder. “It was a nice day for October and the tourists are always here, aren’t they? Especially this time of year?”
I find that they are, yes. As to why they would come to this place when there are so many others across this nation that hold just as much mysticism at a warmer temperature is beyond me. Until tomorrow, Mr. Security Guard,” he said as he started walking again.
Jax.”
Jax?” Faelon turned his head in inquiry.
My name, it’s Jax. At least that is what everyone calls me. It’s short for J-Jackson,” he stammered. He had no idea why he was rambling, other than the fact that Faelon was sexy as hell, and he wanted to speak to him just a little longer. There was something about the soft musical quality of his voice with just a trace of an accent that made Jax want to keep him talking.
Faelon gave a slight smile, and for a brief moment, Jax thought he had to be the hottest man alive. “Until tomorrow then, Jax.”
Jax watched him walk out the door. Giving himself a brief mental shake, he breathed in deeply to clear his head. He had never been so instantly attracted to someone before. When Father Donavan had told him about a researcher, but he’d never pictured a young man with skin-tight leather pants, a black biker jacket, and lips that looked like they would be right at home wrapped around a cock.
